Home2020 Snowbird & Alta Ski Trip

A TRIFECTA SKI TRIP (Snowbird, Alta and Solitude)

Lone Star is heading back to Snowbird/ Alta ski resorts.  The last time we went, the snow was MOST excellent, great accommodations with ski in and ski out, fun activities and just a blast all the way around! BUT we only went for a few days!  This time we have a full week!  LSS is offering an inclusive resort package for this trip.  Included are lodging, ground transportation (with a grocery/liquor stop), portage, lift tickets and more.

NOTE:  Airfare is very affordable, with non-stop and 1-stop options,  but you need to purchase this on your own.
See below for airfare recommendations.

Snowbird Resort offers a variety of dining and is known world-wide for its skiing and with snowboarding terrain.   Located in the heart of the beautiful Wasatch-Cache National Forest, it shares one side of the mountain with Alta Ski Resort.  The club will be staying at the Cliff Lodge in hotel-style rooms. Each room has assigned in-house lockers which include boot dryers, shelves and plenty of space.    Cliff Lodge has 3 restaurants, 2 lounges, 2 swimming pools, and 4 hot tubs.   On the top two floors you will find the Cliff Spa.  Services offered include massages, wraps, yoga, weight room, full service salon and an exclusive rooftop pool and hot tub.

Snowbird has an aerial tram, 10 chairlifts including 6 high-speed quads and four doubles, two conveyer lifts with an impressive 169 runs on 2,500 acres.  Green runs make up 27%, blue runs 38% and advanced runs 35%.  It even has Snowbird Terrain Park located on the lower part of Big Emma and it easily accessed by Mid Gad and Gadzoom lifts. Best of all – it has the longest ski season.  Starting mid-November throughout May it gets more than 500 inches annually of the amazing dry and fluffy powder!  Join the free daily Winter Mountain Tours starting at 9:30 am and 10:30 am departing from the Plaza Deck.  Last year’s snow fall at this time was 150” with at 65” base!

Want more skiing adventure?  No problem – let's go to Alta! Alta is one of the oldest ski resorts in the US and has been open since 1938. Alta is a SKIERS ONLY resort.  You can ski over the Snowbird mountain top or take a bus to Alta (1 mile away).   Alta has 119 runs on 2,614 acres. Percentage of beginner runs are 15%, Intermediate Runs 30% with Advanced Runs at 55%. Alta also averages an impressive 547 inches of snow annually. The combination of the challenging terrain, superb powder, and the uncrowded slopes make this a great destination for powder hounds skiers! It does have some extremely challenging terrain (steeps and tree skiing) it also has a good spread of cruising slopes too.

Still want more skiing adventure?  Currently working on a day trip to Solitude.  A mere 26 miles away, Solitude has 82 runs on 1200 acres with 8 chair lifts (6 Quad, 1 Triple, 1 Double and 1 Magic Carpet) and also boasts of 500 inches of snow annually.  We have to wait until the transportation company is open to get pricing.

Now the best news?  ALL of these resorts use the IKON pass - but since you are getting your Snowbird lift tickets included, you really don't need one!  But if you do have an IKON pass, Snowbird will give you a $324 gift card to use at their resort.  You can use it for ski rentals or that much needed massage!

We got some of the BEST snow in the USA!  We got Ski-In, Ski-Out!  We got our Club Dinner at the Wildflower Restaurant (anyone who went before - yep - this is where we ate...yum!).  You have not just one mountain to ski, but two in the same place!  And a third one in the works!

Suggested Airfare:  To be announced Summer 2021.
